Robert Gordon McHarg III is a Canadian born artist living in London. In 2006 McHarg founded the Subway gallery, a 1960’s Kubrickesque kiosk in a pedestrian subway underneath the Westway. The underground gallery which ran until 2014 championed artists outside of the traditional art circuit including the first solo show for the street artist Stik.
Since 2006, working under his alter ego Gonchan, McHarg has been commissioned to paint rocks in situ as part of the artistic programming around Fuji rock festival. These rocks have become iconic in Japan, emblematic of the creative spirit of the music festival.
