Ash & Plumb (Est. 2020), Amphora IV, 2024

Ash & Plumb was born out of the creative partnership of Barnaby Ash & Dru Plumb in June 2020. Drawing inspiration from ancient and archetypal form, their artistic practice translates these historical references into a captivating visual language of their own. Each distinctive vessel hewn from a single section of Oak through the craft of woodturning, the pair collaborate with their material of choice in a way that celebrates the natural beauty of the tree, embracing every aspect of its character within the finished form. Working with a single section of lightning struck Oak from Heathfield in Sussex for their new works created especially for Eye of The Collector, they have created a series of vessels that celebrate these ancient and historical inspirations. Each vessel a playful yet technically complex contemporary reinvention of these references, crafted to highlight the natural imperfections within the material and featuring the pairings signature stitchwork repair that celebrates the natural imperfections within the ancient Oak that they work.
